Technology Program
In addition to transferring the information technology skills to an Aboriginal Educator, we source the funding for all the hardware, software and connectivity required to set up a technology proficient environment in the partnered Aboriginal school
OPPORTUNITY
We form a tripartite agreement comprising two schools, a school with significant technology resources (STR) and a school with limited technology resources (LTR) and a Corporation thereby creating extraordinary learning opportunities for all parties.
OBJECTIVE
To up-skill and resource an educator from the LTR School enabling the educator to return to their community with hardware, software, connectivity and knowledge to create and manage an IT environment for high quality software to reach those who need it the most.
We aim to effect change in a significant way in the STR School and the LTR School and their communities for the betterment of the human condition.
TRAINING
The educator will shadow the Information Technology education coordinator for an eight-month period, during which time they will be trained in setting up an educationally focused IT infrastructure and be immersed in the utilisation of technology in an educational environment.
In addition, the educator may have the opportunity to join bespoke educational training courses. This will empower and help them to utilise their new-found knowledge. This will improve the way learners learn, think and achieve.
SUSTAINABILTY
The educator will continue to have access to the STR School through regular communication and support. The principals of the two schools will form a deep relationship and this leadership from the top will set the tone for all other relationships between teachers and pupils of the two schools.
THE CORPORATION
The Corporation will provide the funding for this arrangement and any other mentoring or volunteering they choose to offer as well as industry exposure for the students of both schools. Funding will include, inter alia, costs for a relief teacher if applicable, living and transport expenses of the educator, costs for hardware, software and connectivity for the LTR School, the program facilitation fee, and any other training packs and costs.
EXCITING POSSIBILITIES
In future, a star teacher at the STR School and one from the LTR School could swap schools for a few days. In due course, the schools could also consider taking groups of students to one another’s schools. Both schools’ communities will gain immensely from the cross-cultural exchange.
